How to Return or Exchange an Online Order: A Simple Checklist

22 October 2026 · 4 min read

Returns do not have to be stressful. A few habits before and after you order make the whole process smoother.

Before you buy

Every store sets its own return window and rules, and they are shown on the product page. Some products are exchange-only and some are not returnable at all, so read the terms before you pay, especially for items like innerwear, cosmetics or customised pieces.

When the parcel arrives

Open it soon and check it against what you ordered. If something is wrong, damaged or the wrong size, act within the return window.

  • Keep the original packaging, tags and any freebies.
  • Take clear photos of the product and the label if it arrived damaged.
  • Do not wash or use the item before you decide.

Raising the request

Open your order from your account and request a return or exchange with a short, honest reason. Add photos if the issue is a defect. The store reviews it, and if it is approved a pickup is arranged or you are told how to send it back.

Refunds go back to the original payment method once the returned item is received and checked. Timelines vary by store and bank, and each store's refund timing is listed on its product page.
